Supporting The Next Generation: An Investment in the Future

WHO IS THE NEXT GENERATION?

Any young person — student or emerging professional, especially those from historically under-represented or under-served communities — who are interested in working in our amazing field of endeavor. Learn more here.

WHAT ARE OUR CURRENT PLANS FOR SUPPORTING THE NEXT GENERATION?

One… They can join SERCAL free of charge.

Two… We will automatically waive their conference registration fees for those who present or who volunteer 2–3 hours during non-session time.

Three… Awarding stipends to help defray travel and lodging expenses. (We post a link to apply for a stipend in January.)

Four… Progressively fine-tuning our Mentorship Program.

Five… Encouraging SERCAL members, sponsors, and conference attendees to give generously to The Next Generation Fund and participate in our fundraisers our year-end Silent Auction and the Conference Raffle so that we can continue to build upon our efforts in creating opportunities that both transform young lives and our industry…

YES!! RESTORATION FOR ALL!

You can add scholarships in $25 increments to your registration, your membership, or really any time at all through our Square store.

The Watershed Steward Program was with us in full force! It was so inspiring to meet The Next Generation of Restoration Heroes.

Time flew by, but we were able to catch a few of our nine stipend awardees! It was such a pleasure to meet them and we look forward to seeing what their futures hold! From left: Natalie Kim, Savannah Fuqua, and Elijah Khan.

We were very happy to give awards to some excellent student posters! From left: Kyle Foster, Dakota Brooks, and Mazy Hardell-Serrano were awarded third place for their poster on Testing Methods for Efficacy in Mojave Desert Species. Regretfully, we were not able to get a photo of the first and second prize awardees, but you can see the three posters here.
